Wet Age Related
Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in people over
55. Studies show that the start of AMD affects one in 7 people over 40 in
varying degrees. Given that there is currently no cure for AMD, and
treatment options are limited to therapies that halt the progress of the
condition, prevention and early detection are key objectives.
|
EARLY DETECTION IS THE KEY to preventing blindness.
|
Wet AMD can lead to severe sight loss within as little as
three months. Early detection ensures that all treatment options remain
available. Regular dilated retinal eye examinations are therefore an
absolute necessity. The earlier AMD is diagnosed, the better the chances of
preventing vision loss in those types of AMD that respond to treatment.

We are one of the very few offices in Canada with the newly
approved Foresee PHP instrument that has been approved for the early
detection of AMD related vision changes. PHP provides an unsurpassed level
of sensitivity and specificity in detecting early onset wet AMD. Early
detection of wet AMD ensures that treatment begins as early as possible.
